		<description>a bankruptcy can stay on your credit for 10 years; however, GIS can &quot;fail&quot; you for any reason they deem necessary.  a background check usually goes back to your first job and first line of credit.  a healthy background check = no drug use, good working history and a good financial history - so yes, GIS had every right to fail you.  sorry.</description>

I doubt there are any laws concerning how far back GIS can go to do a background check.  Even if the bankruptcy were more than 10 years old, it might be an automatic fail as indicating a lack of financial management ability.</description>
